Just installed a VM under win7 and everything working fine but for email
retieval with OE or OL

Retrieval very slow and usually fails with error:

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: ' XXX,
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

it has retrieved the occasional message which makes me think settings are ok
and internet connection speedy browsing and downloading so don't think thats
the prob

no virus or f/wall s/ware running

server is ok with OL outside of VM and webmail access works fine.

Any ideas?

TIA

PT

__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4691 (20091215) __________

The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

Does other networking work correctly? (like browsing the web, etc...)

When I try to send/receive from OE in XP mode under Win 7, it doesn't connect to the server. I get this error.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'MSN server', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Internet access from IE within XP mode works just fine. Thunderbird and IE8 under Win 7 works. What do I need to change to use OE within XP Mode?

Check your User Name and Password and the server ports under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced and verify that they are correct. OE can connnect without problems, so your issue is likely due to improper settings.
