Popup blocker is too strict

The popup blocker in IE7 is blocking popups called from an onchange event (in
my case, the onchange event is on a <select> tag). This is a user requested
popup, not a malicous or annoying popup such as those typically called from
an onunload or onload event. No other popup blocker that I've used blocks
this type of popup. This sort of popup should be allowed to open even with
the popup blocker on.

Have you considered that the selected option could be changed, thus
triggering the onChange event?

I don't even know how to answer that. That's exactly the point of the
onchange event in the select tag. When the user selects something from the
menu, it triggers a popup, which IE 7's popup blocker is blocking.

I am having a problem with pop up blocker blocking almost everything.
example. I tried to post this as a "new question" but the pop up was
blocked. to post it as a reply, though, I can.

System: Win XP with SP2 which did an automatic update on 2/19/06

I also have Norton Internet Security 2006. I have "chatted" with them and
they say problem with windows, not their product.

I have disabled: Norton anti-spam pop up blocking, windows firewall,,
windows pop up blocker

so, i show pop ups are completely disabled yet ones I get into routinely
(banking...) I cannot access the login screens due to pop up blocker.

Please..... any suggestions?

I think this will fix your problem. Go To:

Internet Options>Security>Custom Level>Scripting>Allow the Pop-up Blocker to
show Input prompts and select enable Click OK and then click Apply.

Hope that helps.

I'm having similar problems. I have played with javascript options, popup
options, its driving me crazy. Even the microsoft suggested solutions fail to
work. By the way, I don't think webcruisers suggestion will work because mine
is set enabled and I still have this problem. It's driving me nuts! I can't
even take a microsoft webtraining because it says javascript is not enabled
but it is!!!! And when I try to use email this it blocks it every time! grrr.
any suggestions?
