Greetings,
Just opening/forwarding ports won't work, what you need to do is turn Universal Plug and Play
(UPnP) on in the router configuration. Unfortunately Linksys moves it around in each router
model, so I can't be specific to where the option is in the configuration.
After UPnP is engaged, reboot and then try again. After this, Messenger will then be able to
forward the ports it needs on demand without any configuration from you. Additionally, you
can check your UPnP status by clicking the Tools menu (or press Alt-T if the menu is hidden),
then Options, then Connection category and wait for a few seconds for it to refresh the
information.
