What ports need to be open to play games?

Hi,

I cannot seem to be able to play any games in messenger (v.8.1.178.0)
I invite someone, they accept, then nothing happens for ages and eventually
it seems to time out with nothing having opened. Is it something to do with
ports that need to be open? I have F-Secure Internet Security and am behind
a NAT enabled router and have opened the ports mentioned here:

http://zone.msn.com/en/support/article/support3805.htm

Do both parties have to do this for games to work? Or is it nothing to do
with that?

Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings,

Nope, just standard outgoing ports using the Messenger P2P platform. If you can send text
messages via Messenger, you should be able to the play the games.

However, any software firewall you have installed may not be allowing the traffic through as
the games use a hosted Internet Explorer control which the firewall may not be recognizing.
Try either disabling it or completely uninstalling it (at least temporarily) to isolate the
problem.
