I am planning to use ADMT 3.1 for migration. I want to know what are the
different firewall ports that are required to open between:
ADMT and Source Domain Controller
ADMT and Target Domain Controller
ADMT and SQL Server
ADMT and Client Computers

Also for updating the computers:
1. Should the shares like C$, Admin$ be available on all clients that need
to be migrated?
2. Should services like Remote Registry, Server Service be running on
client computers that need to be migrated?

Hello Gary,

If possible i wouldn't use a firewall during migration, otherwise AD needs
at least open ports according to:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...23(WS.10).aspx

Also use the ADMT migration guide which also states about firewall requirement
on client machines:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Machine services have to run that way that remote management is possible.
If you can't access a machine remotely you run into trouble, also remote
management requirements are included in the migration guide.

It is called "Turn the worthless WIndows Firewall off".

If you really really really want the Worthless Windows Firewall (it makes
some auditors happy I guess),...turn it back on after the migration is
finished.
