Ports to use with QOS to ensure best video call?

We just purchased a DLink DIR-655 router. This router supports custom QOS
configuration.

We'd like to ensure that any Live Messenger video calls have top priority
over anything else.

What ports and protocols do I need to define here, locally and remotely?

Thx!!!

Greetings Noozer,

I also have a DIR-655 and it's an excellent router. I think you'll be pleased.

The ports are rather dynamic in nature in Messenger, so it's a tad more difficult to set up
QoS then your standard application. In honesty, at least for me, I experimented a bit using
QoS for Skype where you can set an exact IP and didn't really see much difference with it off
vs it on.

However, here are the port ranges; I'd be interested in hearing if you actually see a change:

Ouch!!!

That's a LOT of ports. Looks like I'll just have to live with the current
performance.

Hi,

Yes it is. Just to correct my earlier post, I meant to say "you can set an exact PORT", not
IP. Although I think you understood fine
