Thank you for posting. However, this solution may or may not be sufficient to
connect to Windows Update. From Windows XP, add the following sites to the
firewall "rules" (i.e. exceptions):
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://download.microsoft.com
As for ports: 443 is needed for the secure connection, and the other port should
be the HTTP port, which is already open for browsing the web. Usually this is
port 80.
