Is It Possible?

Hello,

Is it possible to install an OEM version of Vista Home Basic on a notebook
that was purchased with Vista Hpme Basic already Installed? A friend has an
Acer Aspire 3680 that will not boot. An error screen pops up saying the OS
cannot load because a critical file is missing. The notebook did not come
with any installation discs. There is/was a recovery partion on the
notebook, but she did not burn a disc.
