is it possible to turn off compression for $NTInstall folders?
the compression takes too much CPU for the VM during upgrade and achieve
next to nothing in terms of space savings.

Right-click the folder, Properties, "General" tab, click the "Advanced" button and unchecked the
box for "Compress contents to save disk space", Apply, OK

thnaks but that is after fact. what I need is a setting or registry to
tell the windows update not to use compression in the first place during
creation of uninstall folder.
or disable creation of folder with compression/ ignore request for
compression
