After installing the latest MS security patches I started getting
iexplore.exe and explore.exe errors. I was unable to get into system restore
and finally fdisk'd and started over. I did fine up until SP2 on a fresh
install but once again after adding the last bunch of security patches the
errors started up again.

I just finished slipstreaming a SP2 CD for my 3rd install but I'm wondering
if this is a known issue, and do I simply not patch my WinXP?

Thanks

After my second fresh install of XP I left out KB890830 and KB896727 and
things are running without a hitch.

Am I the only one with this problem?

No.
I also cannot use
KB883939
KB893066
KB893886
KB890859
KB885835
KB885250
Some cause a momentary blue screen with a quick switch to black (and power
down of hard drives), while others cause Explorer (IE and Windows explorer)
to error out. As it stands, even without these installed, I get error
messags on IE a lot these days (when I actually use it).
