When I am reading posts in this and some other discussion groups, there are
frequent posts from someone called "Unknown". When I click on the post, it is
blank, no message. Sometimes I see that others have replied to such posts and
I can open the replies, which are not blank.

Could some kind person explain to me what is happening? Have the original
messages been pulled by some hidden moderator?

Is your newsreader, msnews.microsoft.com? If it is, Microsoft censors all
the posts between myself, Frank, Alias, Adam Albright, measekite, Spanky
deMonkey, kevpan815, and a few others.

Thanks for the swift response. The site I am on is

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/com...s/default.mspx

for what it is worth. I am not certain what type of Window this is, not
being an intellectual in this area, but I can click on any thread to have it
come up again in a different format. That's the best I can tell you.

I have noticed the names you speak of, and frankly I am not surprised: no
offence intended, but it seems that all the people listed by you seem not to
be interested in the business of the group, but in having "fun". But I have
seen a few serious posts by you in reply to others who have actual questions:
to people like me, for instance.

However, I have also seen today on this site more than one Unknown, when the
replies to the Unknown Person are serious and normal. So I wonder how much
more censorship is going on.

My signature has a link to the rules set out by Microsoft for participation
in this group. Those who choose to disregard them are subject to moderation.
Since MS owns and operates the msnew.microsoft.com server, what they say
goes. It's why they call it a 'domain'
There are other domains that 'slurp' the info from msnews, and those are the
ones that get a reply. Quite a few children amuse themselves chatting on
this group, they are just too ignorant to do it well.

Thank you for the information, I have put your link on the destop and will
go through it all. I have been a user of Windows XP for years and have just
moved on the Vista, hence my interest in this Group.

Those users were not being censored here. I am using Outlook Express unless
it is very recent. I use Shift + Delete to remove them.

Right, the Communities interface is the only one moderated. You can see that
in Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and the web interface. The OP used the
web interface.
