I have the same problem. It seems to have something to do with plugging
things into the USB ports because when I remove it (more specifically a
webcam), power management starts to work again. I've contacted the maker of
the webcam (Logitech) but they blame vista.
Basically, I don't have an answer to your problem, I need help too.
