I just installed Vista Business on an HP m8100n, and when I click on power
options nothing shows up. I also get a shell error. The error code is
'shell:::{26EEO668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\2\::{025A5937-A6B...\pageGlobalSettings'

Any Help Would be Appreciated.

Hi Ross

Try running a "sfc /scannow" (no quotes) command to see if it can fin
and fix the error for you. This will show you how

I ran the check and it came back with corrupted files. I checked the CBS log
to find out what they were because Windows could not fix the files. The two
files are powercpl.dll and pnidui.dll. I download the dll's off the internet
and put them in the system32 folder. But Vista won't allow me to take out the
corrupted versions. I am logged on as the administrator and I tried to change
the permissions of the files, but that didn't work either.

Once again any help would be appreciated.

Try repairing your installation using the Windows Vista installation DVD.

Boot from your Windows Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the
setup screen, select 'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows
> select Startup Repair option and follow instructions.

Hi Ross,

You will need to take ownership of them first, then you should be able
to delete them.
