PowerDVD Problem?

I have a Dell Studio XPS 9000 (Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit) with one
DVD-R drive and one Blu-Ray writer. I also have the Dell version
of Power DVD (8.x) installed. I can play Blu-Ray discs just fine
but when I put a regular DVD into either drive, Media Center starts
and I get a screen that has a menu down the left side with choices
like Restart, Main Menu, Eject (I'm not at the computer at the moment).
On the right it also has all the info about the disc such as playing time,
encoding format, name of the disc, etc. The disc doesn't
play, however! I click every menu choice but nothing seems to
happen. The name of the disc scrolls across a box on the upper right
but nothing plays. I can play DVDs in Media Player but I'd rather
play them in Media Center. Does anyone know what's going on?

TIA

No Blu-Ray support in Media Center.

PowerDVD 8 has a bug in the program.
You should upgrade to PowerDVD 10.

I had no problem with Blu-Ray discs. My problem was that ordinary DVDs
weren't playing in PowerDVD. I'd put in a DVD and PowerDVD would come up
and show the name of the disc, what format it is, what the playing time is, etc.
In other words, it would do everything except actually play the disc! Thanks to a
previous reply, I upgraded to PowerDVD 10 3D and everything is hunky-dory
(I don't even know what "hunky-dory" means exactly!)

And I thought Hunky-Dory was the couple that took the Ice Dancing Bronze at
the Olympics this year!?
