PowerPoint blinking line during presentation

I continue to get a line that blinks on the screen during my presentation.
Is there a setting I need to turn off or on. It does not blink on the laptop
screen, only on the projection screeen.

if it's only the projection, it could be your cable. make sure it is
securely fashioned on both ends. you can also try it from a different
computer and see if that makes a difference. Also as far as the laptop
goes, make sure your video drivers are up to date. also, try playing with
the resolution settings and refresh rate for the second monitor (your
projector).

I should have given a little more information. Other computers work fine on
the same cable and projector. My laptop is a brand new HP w/Windows Vista.
Before buying the new laptop, my old laptop worked just fine with the cable &
projector. I am not all that familiar yet with my new laptop, so I thought
there may be a setting on the laptop that I need to adjust.
