Prevent conversion from MP3 to WMA when syncing to device

Using Windows 7, WMP 12, WMDC 6.1. Device is Verizon Omnia i190 running
WM6.1. The Omnia has its own Touch Player media player as well as WMP. For
MP3 files the Omnia defaults to the Touch Player. When i sync certain MP3
files to the device, WMP converts the files to WMA format. The problem is,
the Touch Player does not play WMA files. I would like to not have the files
converted. Is there a way to prevent the conversion?

If WMP v12 is set-up like v11,then in WMP,go to tools,options,file types tab,
uncheck the file type you dont want WMP to edit or play.
