Prevent moving of folders

I would love to be able to prevent users from accidentally moving folders in
Windows Explorer. Is there any way of configuring network folders that will
prevent them from being moved? I do not want to have to got to each folder
and set it as read only either, and users create their own folders so that
will be an administrative nightmare. Is the a Group Policy that might heal
with this issue? I know I am not the only one suffereing from this!

I would love this too, honestly, but it's never been possible that I know
of. It's one of the reasons I really miss File Manager. Users just need to
be careful.

Which folders you're talking about?
I suggest you to create a local user with "user" rights. The user cannot
move folders in windows explorer.

Not sure what you mean - users without admin rights can most definitely move
folders. NTFS permissions are the issue and the OP has said he doesn't want
to limit the creation of folders or manage read-only folder permissions with
modify permissions therein.... also, if this is a domain, local user
accounts shouldn't be used anyway. Am I misreading your post?

I'm working on an application that will allow this.

It will install on each client computer and can be set via Group Policy.
If set to active, it will prevent left mouse button drag-drop in Explorer. To
move or copy a file users would have to use the right-click drag-drop then
select Move or Copy from the popup menu. It can't differentiate between local
and network drives though.

I should have a beta ready in about 2-3 weeks.

Is this the sort of thing you are after?

That sounds swell. I try to train people to *always* use
right-click/hold/drag - but it's not easy.
Keep us posted!
