We are enabling Automatic Updates using Group Policy. We set the updates to
install once per week in the late afternoon. We don't want the users to be
prompted to install updates, rather we want them to install automatically
each week.

We have a GPO that sets the correct day and time for install. However users
still see the update shield and get the "Updates are ready to install on your
copmuter" balloon. I thought that if we set updates to download and install
automatically that users wouldn't see that balloon.

How can we disable this balloon without disabling automatic updates?

I appreciate the help, Unk.

But management doesn't want to disable all balloons on corporate
workstations, just the AutoUpdate one. They would prefer that the user not
get prompted at all to do the patch installs. They just want the patches to
install automatically.

Shouldn't setting AU to "download and install" at the specified time prevent
the prompt and sheild?
