Preview window in Taskbar not working in Windows Vista Home Premiu

I'm not able to preview windows in my taskbar anymore. I went into the taskbar
settings in control panel and the "Show Window Previews(thumbnails)" option
was greyed out. I have Windows Aero enabled, theme is also set to Aero.
Tried the suggested fix to restart explorer.exe, that didn't work either. I'm
completely at a lost, any assistance with this problem would be greatly
appreciated.
