Many would not touch vista with a 10 foot stick even if it was free....

Heck, many wouldnt use it even if Microsoft was willing to PAY them to do
so!

Vista is different from every previous release of windows.

Its not only CRAP but its in your face all the time (unlike windows Me that
was crap but could easily be avoided)

With the way the dollar's going, it may well be close to free soon :-)

In all fairness, Bridge, XP wasn't really ready for prime time until
SP2. I am open minded enough to wait and see if the MS boys see the
writing on the wall and improve Vista like they did XP with Vista's SP2.

That said, I noticed that the new nVidia graphics cards are coming with
Linux drivers on the CDs ;-) That most certainly didn't happen when XP
was one year old.

I was using XP right from the start, RTM and I can say it was extreamly good
and got better and better, before that my workstation had win98.. YUCK!!!

dont listen to the dufus's that claim winXP was not secure when it came out.
It was less secure but there were not so many threates either! As the
threats increased so did the security.

you can imagine the huge leap in performance and stability I noticed from98
to XP

It was a huge leap.... finaly I could use the programs I needed on a stable
platform.

and that IS the path most people took when upgrading, from win98 to XP
win2k was not really promoted as an OS for the masses... and I was really
sorry I didnt
use that before switching to XP.

but from XP to Vista its like a darn DEGRADE

I went from Win 95 to 98 to 98SE to W2K Professional to XP SP1. I was
very pleased at the improvements with XP SP2.

well thats why you were not surprised as I was... you had win2k in the
middle there between 98 and XP

but thats not how most of the windows users did it. I only used win2k AFTER
I had used XP...

The problem was that NT was not popular... and back then the impression was
in general that win2k was not as compatible becuase it came from windows NT
that lacked drivers.. so many avoided it.

Had I known better I would not lose a second more on that crappy win98 box

Some improvements over W2K were faxes that didn't completely got nuked
with W2K and XP keeps what did make it. Another was MSCONFIG which, for
some reason, was not included with W2K but you could use Win Me's
MSCONFIG. Also, if you happen give the same name to two computers on the
same LAN, W2K just hangs while XP tells you what's happening. Another
difference was the eye candy. I had no problems with the drivers because
I build my own computers and motherboards comes with a CD as did the
video card and audio card.

Pretty funny. Microsoft lowers the price of Vista to help move the product
and Ubuntu is FREE and nobody wants it. I guess people just know Ubuntu is
a Piece-Of-Crap, just for Linux Fanboys.
