print problems with works 8.0

I have an HP SR2170NX and an HP 7350 printer. Per HP, I had to install it as
a 5550 and it almost works great. It will print a calendar, 1 of 2
spreadsheets, any word processor document except envelopes & amusingly the
grid lines & dollar amounts of my tax returns from Turbo Tax, but not the
descriptions of those lines. It goes through the motions, feeding paper,
print head flying but nothing is printed.Printer test is perfect, ink is OK,
printer has been un & re installed, Adobe & internet print OK. No jams, no
shut-downs. Any suggestions short of an exorcist?
