I have recently purchased a Canon Pixma MP160 printer. When i print photos
directly from my digital camera via the printer the photos are brilliant but
if i upload them onto my computer and try and print them via picture gallery
the colour is faded. i have tried to print other things via the computer and
they are fine but i cannot print from the gallery - i have windows vista -
what can i do to rectify this?

If the quality is different, assuming from your post, try adjusting or
changing the Color Management options inside your Printing Preferences, in
Photo Gallery after you select Print, find the Options... in the lower right
hand corner of the Print Window. From there you can go into your printer
options and change its color management. Some printer drivers use their own
management or may be using Window's color management. Try changing it to one
that makes the prints look as you expect them to look.

(This was also a common problem in XP, as some printers would use ICM or
their own management and sometimes one printer brand would print perfectly
by chosing the other color management option.)

I too have had this problem but my printer is a Canon Pixma MP470 and there's
about 10 different options for color management (if I'm in the right
location). Are there any suggestions as to what color management option may
work better rather than having to waste ink doing this? The options don't
appear to make any logical sense as to what they mean.

Thanks,

Scott

I have exactly the same problem with the Canon Pixma MP160. I thought I was
crazy. The photos print fine from within my Word application, but if I try
to print the same photo from Photo Gallery, they are all washed out. Odd as
it seems, if I cange the size and type of paper setting (ie 4x6 glossy), then
I get the color back. There has to be a better way...I tried changing the
other color management settings and that did nothing. Hopefully someone will
have some better options.
