Printing Problems from IE7

All of a sudden, I am unable to print from IE7. Printing works great with
all other software programs.

When attempting to print from IE7, the print dialogue box comes up and I can
see the printer, but when I click the print button, the dialogue box closes
but nothing happens. The printing instructions don’t seem to make it to the
printer. (The little printer icon in the task bar doesn’t come up nor is the
document listed in the printer dialogue box when I open it.)

Following are my software and hardware specifics:
-Windows Vista SP1
-Internet Explorer 7 with IE7 Pro
-Norton 360 antivirus and firewall (Windows firewall is off)
-Toshiba Satellite Laptop
-Samsung CLX-216x Series printer connected via USB to computer

I’ve tried the following to resolve the problem:
-updated all Microsoft and Norton software
-updated the printer driver
-tried printing with the firewalls off

The only thing that works is to turn the `Internet Security Protected Mode’
to off, which naturally I am reluctant to do.

Whatever assistance anyone can give to help me resolve this perplexing
problem will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. Same printer as well. Seems to be quite
common and there seems to be no fix other than to totally disable Protected
Mode. I talked to Samsung as well and they were worse than useless.
