Privacy in msn

Hi

I have the new msn account and although i have unchecked all the boxes
showing updates about what people can see about me - they still appear on my
friends lists in the whats new list.

I think that the 'whats new' thing is an invasion of privacy - i dont want
my ex or my boss to see if i am in certain networks - turning it off doesnt
work.

Does anyone else know if this is a problem?

Greetings Doug,

Just to confirm, are you sure you got the checkboxes are the correct page (as there is two of
them).

There's the standard page where you select what you see:
http://profile.live.com/whatsnewsettings/

and the settings where you select what others see:
http://profile.live.com/WhatsNewWithYouSettings/

Hi Jonathan

Yes these are the spots where I unchecked everything. However, for example
my friends can still see that I joined someone's network 4 days ago. And
that I updated my display pic in November 2008.

Maybe I need to do something else?

And at what stage was microsoft going to inform me that they were spreading
my msn usage to all and sundry????

I am pretty sure that future changes will not propagate to people who *were*
receiving updates previously. The problem you are now seeing is that updates
made before you changed the sharing security for What's New will not clear from
people who received them until the age off of their feed list. It isn't
refreshed continually. Once it is sent to an authorized receiver, it is on their
list.

MS never concerns privacy, e.g. the conversation content is not encrypted
and chat history is not password protected.
