Problem accessing Windows Update

I use to connect to Windows Update via <Tools>-<Windows Update> on the EI6.0
title bar. Then, I used "System Restore" to back up one day to remove a
program I didn't want. After that, I get an error whenever I try to open the
Windows Update page. It says something like- "There was a problem opening
this page..."

I use eDexter ad filter and a good size HOSTS file to clean up my browsing
experience and if I disable the HOSTS file and shut down eDexter, I CAN
access Windows Update without any problems. I haven't found any entrys in
the PACdata file or HOSTS file that seem to be the culprit but then it may be
an entry I'm not familiar with.

Anyone else experience this? I updated to EI 7.0 RC1 hoping to update past
the problem but found the very same situation. I would appreciate any help I
can get, thank you...

Here is the actual error message...
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

I have kind of resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to access Windows
Update the long way around. It seems that there aren't that many people that
use the system setup we have.

I found the problem on my system. It took some trial and error but I
isolated a couple entries in my PACdata file that were blocking the Windows
Update page from loading correctly.

The entries were ...[*ads.*] & [*ad.*]

Once I removed those entries, WU worked just fine.
