the system with the problem is part of a domain, I've used my domain admin
account as well as the local administrator account, when I try to run office
update, the site tells me that I need to use the new vista office update
site. I go to the microsoft update (vista) link that is provided and without
being prompted for any elevation privs, i'm told that I need to be an admin.
The title of the error says "Microsoft Update could not be installed on your
computer" and goes on to say that I need to be logged on as an administrator
or member of the administrator group.

windows update works fine on the machine, and I'm currently up to date when
I run it from the control panel.
