I recently installed Vista Home premium on my 1 yr old computer that was
suppossed to be "Vista Ready" the upgrade came as part of the package
just not got around to installing it until now, I have adobe acrobat pro
6.0 plus pro 7 upgrade I also have downloaded Reader V8.1.2 with all of
them I get the error message the program is not working and windows will
look for a solution and notify me etc etc, I have gone to adobe's
website to try and find a solution to no avail or at least nothing I
haven't already tried I have quite a few other annoying little problems
with it but will deal with them one at a timeLOL Thanks in advance for
any help.
OOOH BTW I am not very computer litterate so easy language and
instructions would be much appreciated too, Thanks Jackie

When you installed Acrobat 8, did you download the installer (save) then
right click the install file and 'run as administrator' to install it?

You could try Foxit reader, it does everything Acrobat can.

No I didn't , I just clicked on the download from Adobe's web site and
away she went, I have installed and uninstalled this several times and I
don't even recall seeing that window to be honest, should I uninstall
yet again and try again? Jackie

OK I uninstalled yet again and reinstalled yet again it doesn't give you
that dialog window in the main download centre of adobe so I canceled it
and went and found another place within their website to download from
and that did give me that window so I did as you suggested but it hasn't
solved my problem either, I have 4 emails with PDF files attached that I
need to get at when I try to open them all I get is adobe reader 8.12
has stopped working same thing happens when I click on the reader icon
on my desktop.

let me understand... you have Acrobat pro 6 with a 7 upgrade? This i
the setup that allows you to create pdf as well as read them right
According to Adobe the system requirments for professional 7 don'
include Vista.... Perhaps that is the issue. You might not be able t
upgrade the reader if the main versions you are seeing are linked t
professional 7.

'System requirements for Acrobat Professional 7.0, Standard 7.0, 3D an
Elements 7.0 (Mac, Windows and Unix for 3D only)

Hi Jackie,
You might want to try saving one of the files to somewhere
on your computer, and then try opening it just to see if it is any different
then the error you get now.

well I don't think this can be the problem because I have installed i
on a new laptop that has Vista Ultimate pre installed on it, in fac
touch wood I haven't had any issues or problems with installing anythin
on that machine, seems like all the problems are with this upgrade fro
XP sp2 to Vista Home premium sp1, may be I should have done a clea
install but it did tell me there wasn't any need to, Thanks anyway
