Problem with April Updates

At our home, we are using Windows HP on two Dell desktop computers (Home
Edition on one, Professional on the other.) On April 23, 2006, I downloaded
and installed 4 updates from your Windows Update website. There were:
KB911562, KB912812, KB908531, and KB911567. One or more of these updates
caused immediate problems with Word and Windows Explorer. After much effort,
I was able to uninstall these updates, and everything worked fine again.
Searching the web, I found a large number of references to this same problem.
Some of the suggested fixes were both confusing and scary; I don’t want to
risk everything by messing with the registry. Checking your Update Website
again now, I see that KB911562 and KB911567 are still there, and still
recommended for my computer. I would like to use Windows Update, but now I
am hesitant to do so. I don’t want to have that same problem again. Have
you fixed these two updates, so that the ones recommended for me are another
version? What should I do?
Thanks,
Travis4
