Problem with downloads and installation using Automatic Update fea

I have Automatic Updates scheduled to download and install at a certain time.
It has failed to do this operation for the past 4 months. Any suggestions of
how to get Windows Update to work properly?

Post the relevant sections from C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log so we can see
what is failing.

Just because you have it set for a particular date and time, does not mean
that it will actually happen then. Regulation of access to the update
server may delay update download for up to a week or so.

A "relevant section" would be all the records relating to a single day, for
instance, if Automatic Updates attempted to run that day.

from one day. I hope this helps. One further question. Should the download
be successful, but will not install could this be because there is a EULA
that needs to accepted first, which means that the download has to be
manually installed?

updates, but the log was truncated and did not show the installation phase.

Thanks again for the prompt response. The reason I did not include all of
the information was because this site said it was too much information so I
had to keep deleting information until I could send the email. If their is
another way for me to send you all of the data, please let me know and
thanks again for all of your help. Also, what was your feeling about the
question I asked previously about the fact that if the updates did in fact
download, but would not install, does this have anything to do with a EULA
needing to be accepted first?

It's a hypothetical point at present: the logs should show us something
about the failures.

Just start again where you left off with the last episode, and carry on
until you can see it ceasing to be relevant. We are looking for error
messages during the installation, which should follow shortly ater the
downloads have completed. Another few hours worth of log should see it
through.
