Thanks for your quick reply, unfortunately neither of those solutions worked.
I was able to get to the menu to select "Last known..." and Safe Mode, but
the computer still restarted before Windows started on every occasion. If
it's of any help, I've only had the machine for a week or so, and I've
downloaded and installed several Windows updates through the Automatic
Updater over the last few days. It was all working perfectly before the
failed SP2 update though.
Any other possible solutions?
