Multiple services are not starting after the June update. At this point I
have 3 servers that have developed this problem. Two are active directory
servers and one is a member server. The servers are all windows 2003 with sp1
installed.

The automatic services that are not starting are

Name,_____Status ,_____Startup Type,_____Log On As
COM+ Event System,_____Starting,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Shell Hardware Detection,_____Starting,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Automatic Updates,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Help and Support,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
IIS Admin Service,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
IPSEC Services,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Performance Logs and Alerts,_____,_____Automatic,_____Network Service
SharePoint Portal Administration,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
System Event Notification,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Task Scheduler,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA),_____,_____Automatic,_____Local Service
World Wide Web Publishing Service,_____,_____Automatic,_____Local System

In addition there are manual services that should have started but have not.
Network connections and volume shadow copy to name two.

When I try to look at the dependencies of a service I receive the message

"Win32: Access is denied"

I think my network connection problem is related to the fact that the
Network Connections service is not working.

How can I get the services backup up???

I will put my findings in the "Network Connections missing after updates"
thread.

I have a sort of work around.
