Problem getting XP updates

Recently started using DSL (ATT). Prior to that has no problems downloading
XP updates. Now when I check for critical updates the scan runs for a long
time, then I get a message that there are no critical updates. My daughters
machine works okay and she has downloaded updates. I am not getting any
error messages, just not being shown any critical updates. Any help would be
appreciated.

You may need to re-register the following:-

Click Start > Run
Type: net.exe stop wuauserv
Press OK
Repeat the above steps for the following:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Try the WU site again.

Is Automatic Updates enabled? Are you certain the machine's missing any
critical updates?
