Well I'm installing Vista on computer but it freezes right after you enter
the product key. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

If you installed from any drive emulation software such as Daemon Tools, its
the possible cause, try disabling that first and retry.

I've got the same problem. I burned the iso to dvd. (downloadmanager confirms
complete download) Nero says there seems to be a problem with the block
size, but does the burning nevertheless after I click "Ignore". The computer
starts up with the dvd but after I type the product key in and press next it
says it can't open the winodws image file.

I have the same symptoms that Michael gets .. after I enter the product key
and press next it says it cannot open the windows image file. I created the
dvd using Roxio, not Nero and did not get the block size error that Michael
got. I am installing (or trying to install) Vista on to a clean Maxtor 100
GB drive, booting from the DVD. The primary drive is a Maxtor 120 running XP
Pro.

I also thought that maybe I had a bad download copy, so I have downloaded it
3 times. Each time the final file comes out to just over 2 GB when the
initial download says it will be over 3 GB. How big are your files?
(English, 32 bit).

Additionally, I tried to use the download manager and it errors at the
beginning saying it cannot handle a file of that size. I ended up just doing
a straight download (for over 4 hrs on DSL)

Any insight here?

I'm seeing the same thing. Is there anything else I can try? I'm booting
the DVD and plan to install to a new, empty drive. So I have no Windows
Defender or anything like that running. I get no error, I just type the key,
press enter, I see the read light on my DVD drive flash, and then the Vista
installer just sits there. The mouse pointer can still move, but everything
else is hung at this point.

I have this problem too... I am using a DVD ordered directly from Microsoft
so that likely rules out issues with ISO or daemon and all that. No matter
what I tried, it still locks up right after I enter the Product Key. This
includes:
Install from XP SP 2
Install from XP SP 2 in safe mode
Enable/disable search for updates
Enable/disable Activation during the Install

I beta tested Windows XP and the installation experience I had was smooth
sailing. Usually Microsoft betas are more robust but lately (e.g., WMP 11)
the installation routine itself appears to have issues more akin to an alpha
release. If we can't get it on our systems no matter how great the OS is it
doesn't do us any good... Microsoft, please help!
