Problem installing ActiveSync

I has ActiveSync 3.8 installed and it crapped out after 10 minutes with my
pda so I was told that I had to reinstall it.
So after lots of reading and playing with my pc and the regedit removed it.
Now I need to reinstall it and the setup.exe seems to freeze up and not do
anything
does any one have any idea on how to let me reinstall ActiveSync short of a
system wipe.
Is there another program that will replace ActiveSync that does not require
ActiveSync to actually be installed?

Thanks.

Hi,

* Did you try installing after clearing up the temp folder ? (Start ->
Run -> %temp%)

Yes, I did try that.
Thank you for the idea and the fast reply.
This is my Hijack Log for my computer at bootup.
Do you have any Idea to cut my overhead to make my ActiveSync work.

So after the ActiveSync setup hangs and I end the task I get this message.
Setup requires files from the directory C:\Documents and
Settings\User\desktop\MSASYNC\sys',which does not exist. please run setup
again.
