Problem installing KB923789 Security update for flash player

Hi, I've tried repeatedly to install security update for flash player
KB923789 with no success. Can anyone help please?

Thank you Michel, I reformatted the other day and then installed adobe 8 from
a site without installing the flash player, is this why updates tried but
failed to install the KB923789 Security update for flash player? Is this
what it was about? so now I went to adobe site and installed flash player, I
don't need that security update now?

Hi Ros,

You are welcome.

The Flash Player from Adobe is fully up to date, always take updates or
newer software from the manufacturer and not MS that is if really needed
especially with drivers: if it ain't broke do not fix it unless you like
blue screens.

I have installed Adobe Flash 9 and it conflicts with KB923789 and when
trying to install get Gen Warn. This version of Windows (XPpro/SP2?/E7) you
have installed does not match the update you are trying to install

Gen Warn Flash: The Version of Macromedia Flash you have installed does not
match the update your are trying to install

In registry the CLSID item above refers to Flash 6 and cannot be removed -
this is an irritant as it shows up in registry scans as an error.

Does anyone know what needs to be done, please? I am a beginner.
