Problem Installing W2K8 x64 - winload.exe

I am trying to install (the trial version) of 2008 Standard but I hit an
error - immediately after the black screen with 'Loading Files' and the
progress bar I get taken to a Windows Boot Manager screen with the
following error:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be
the cause.
..
..
..
File : \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe

Status: 0xc00000001

Info: The selected file could not be loaded because the application is
missing or corrupt.

The only option is Enter to continue or Esc to exit. Hitting enter
enables a memory test, which passes fine.

So as it doesn't even get as far as installing any files, I though it
was a dead DVD burn. Re-downloaded it, re burned at a slower setting,
no difference, tried a different drive, same.

The strange thing is, I have successfully installed SBS2k8 x64 on
another hdd in this system with no problems. Only the one hdd is
connected (currently blank)

Anyone any ideas?

I am actually having this exact same problem. Maybe it is something wrong
with the image on the server?

I wondered that, I've twice downloaded it, burned it with different
settings and used 3 different DVD drives with no different result.
Unfortunately I don't have any other images to compare it against to
know if it is valid or not.

There is an updated download on the MS Server 2008 page now, updated
3/2/09. This is a.exe which extracts a .iso, same filename as before,
same size but has a different checksum. Burnt that and it works now

Hi,
I got this exact same problem when installing a Win2008 x86 virtual machine
on host Window 2008 x64.
the Win2008 x86 is a technet version:
en_windows_server_2008_datacenter_enterprise_stand ard_sp2_checked_build_x86_dvd_342434.iso

Could you please kindly let us know where you get the update from?
