problem installing xp updates

I have Windows XP, Service Pack II. Today, when I attempted to see if
there were any new updates available for my system, through first going
to HELP & SUPPORT CENTER menu, & then going to Windows Update menu, &
then to the page that says "keep your computer update" and then
depressing the EXPRESS UPDATE menu, I received the following error
message:

"X The website has encountered a problem and cannot dispally the page
you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you to
solve this problem

For assisted support options, etc


Does anyone know what the cause of this problem is?
