Problem with Latest XP Updates?

Since the last update a few days ao...a fairly lengthy one, there appears to
be a new and annoying desktop behaviour.

Sometimes after boot, the desktop does not refresh properly.. ie leaves
holes. During working with my main app, the screen flashes as it appears to
be refreshing fairly often.

Since it is the only software change, I believe the updates have affected
the screen refresh function. Can anyone confirm?

IT would be helpful if Windows updates released information about update
problems. The REALTEK audio driver problem last May/June caused me endless
grief until I realized I had to update the driver (even though I don't use
it) because a Windows Update interacted badly with the old driver(s).
