An update . . . When accessing the 2nd user account, the program would abort
just at the moment that the welcome greeting sound would start to play. So I
figured it might have something to do with the Realtek Audio (rthdcpl.exe).
I had uploaded Realtex's latest driver for WinXP, dated 3-30-07, from their
website. As mentioned above, this cured the user32.dll relocation dialog box
on bootup.
I went into the System, Device Manager and rolled back the driver for the
audio to the previous backup. On first reboot of the computer I incurred the
same problem with trying to access the second user account. But on
subsequent bootups, I have not incurred any problem in accessing the second
account (has worked fine for about 15 times in a row - logging off and back
on when the other account is logged on). I haven't been able to do this
consistently for the past week or so. So my problem may be solved --
fingers' crossed.
Realtek latest drivers may have a problem with the latest Windows updates.
Will post again if problem returns . . .
