I have a couple of Windows 2000 Servers where you are prompted to install
832483 over and over. After just a couple of seconds, it says that it
installed successfully, but it almost immediately shows up again as ready for
installation.

What should I do?

Thanks.

What level of MDAC do those systems have?
Have you installed MDAC 2.8 Service Pack 1?

I have the exact same problem as Charlie on my computer with Windos 2000
Profesional. How do I determine what version of MCAC I have to answer
Robin's question? Bottom line is this...this update has been installed (like
20 times) per the windows screen that shows recent updates. I guess what I
need to know is what can I do other than turning off Automatic Updates to get
the system to stop prompting me to install it over & over again.

Thanks

The following may WELL also apply in this instance - best option is to
install MDAC 2.8 SP1 and then return to Windows updates
<quote myself >
IN Win ME, there is one more ESSENTIAL thing to note
THE 911562 PATCH FOR MDAC2.8RTM DOES NOT WORK!!!
It breaks Help & Support, amongst other things.

Best advice is upgrade to MDAC2.8SP! from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
then visit WU again for the new patch - which works properly with the SP1
files.

Thanks Noel, by installing the link you gave me, I no longer have the
problem, it appears fixed!

It took me a while to get back to this.
Thanks, the suggested fix worked. Wish it was always that simple.

Hi,

I thought I would add my name to those for whom the suggestion to first
upgrade to MDAC2.8SP then do the KB832483 patch worked smoothly for my
Windows 2000 Pro installation.
