Problem: only sound, no motion in avi video clips on Vista computer

Folks,

I try to play a video clip (avi) that I captured on my digital camera.

When I play the video clip on my computers, i have the following
results (all using Window Media Player 11):

Computer A (Vista 32-bit home version):
Only the sound portion can be played properly, the motion portion
cannot be played (black screen)

Computer B (XP):
Both sound and motion can be played properly.

Questions:
1)
Is this something due to Microsoft Vista?

2)
How can I fix this problem?

3)
Do I need to download any other particular software to my Vista
machine?

Thanks a lot!

Hello this is a complete answer for all videos you may run into!

download the free divx codec from
www.divx.com

download the xvid codec from
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Koepi_XviD.htm

download real alternative from
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm

download quicktime alternative (unless you want to use iTunes, then download
iTunes that bundles the normal quicktime player)
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm

the above will handle 90 % of all videos...

for everything else download GOMPLAYER that will play almost anything you
can throw at it
www.gomplayer.com

hope this helps

What video codec does it use? What audio codec does it use? You can use
the GSpot Codec appliance to determine that if you don't know how.

What specific digital camera model/make is this?

I would be stunned if Real Alternative or QuickTime Alternative in any way
helped to resolve this problem. =)
