Problem with Paint Shop Pro X

I have loaded Paint Shop Pro X on my new Vista Home Premium computer and the
patches to version 10.10 to ensure Vista compatibility.
I find that it will open with full functionality under my wife's user
account, but when I try to open it on my account it will not open - stating
Paint Shop Pro has stopped working ... windows will close the programme and
notify if a solution is available.
No solution has been forthcoming.
It would appear it must be something on my user account, as opposed to
incompatibility/incorrectly loaded on the computer.
Can anyone explain/help me to resolve please?

PSP has only just become happy with Vista as version 12 (which they call
X2). And some of THAT marketing spin has rubbed off on the product, in that
good features have been spoilt by the people who took it over and don't
understand the value of features refined over many versions by enthusiastic
users and programmers. However Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 is much more
spritely than version X1 with some of the worst mistakes corrected (and a
few annoyances added). Join the news group
cnews.corel.com/corel.PaintShopProPhotoX2 for more. There is a group for
version XI but it is barely active now. Doug

I don't know if you found a solution to your problem, but I was havin
the exact problem: I could not run PSP X, but if I logged on as m
husband, it ran fine.

I stumbled on the answer to my own question quite by accident.

On the Desktop, instead of double clicking the icon for PSP X
right-click and then select Run as Administrator.

The program will open (you might briefly see the first message, but i
will disappear and you will not get the second message).

You will need to open the program this way each time you want to us
it.

I found this solution today, but on Friday, I bit the bullet an
upgraded to PSP X2, LOL. Oh, well.

Good luck.

Just to add to that, I have PSP XI, bought from Dell with Vista.

It refused to run (...obviously no help from the creator or supplier),
except in "compatibility" mode (XP SP1).

Recently, after a stealth Vista update (january) it again refused to run -
until I turned off compatibility mode.

I hold my breath for Vista SP1....

As a further variation I had PSP X1 as a Dell preinstall with Vista
which worked OK.
I then bought the X2 upgrade which also works well but the PSP entry in
'Open with . . .' disappeared, I think because I uninstalled X1 after
installing X2. The fix http://windowsxp.mvps.org/openwithadd.htm linked
through the excellent www.vistax64.com put it back.

It's worth pointing out that X2 is the first PSP to officially support
Vista.
