problem to play VCD or DVD on Windows Media Player

Please could you help me in solving problem in Window Media Player?
Original error code:
C00D10CD
Original Error Message:
Windows Media Player cannot play the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged.
Media Player: 11.0.5721.5268
System: Windows XP home edition

The problem is in trying to play VCD or DVD. At times I can hear sound
without video.
I would really be happy in somebody could help me.
