Problem with Protected mode on

Hi
I have an ActiveX application that intercepts keyboard inputs from th
user and responds to certain key combinations

Application is delivered as a signed cab file, that is invoked by
java script from an html page.This works fine when protected mode i
turned off in Vista/IE7
But when protected mode is on, i am not able to get the key stokes
Also certain Windows messages do not seem to be coming. Some dialo
boxes do not show up

Can some one help me figure out what is going on and what do i need t
do to fix it
