Hello,

I downloaded the 'RADEON 9800 PRO Update' which was made available today. I
installed the update and also restarted my PC as suggested.

However, after restarting the PC, I again got the alert for this update
being available. I repeated the complete procedure but still get the alert
'Update is ready for your computer'.

Is there something that I am missing or has anyone come across similar
problem ?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Prashant.

Greetings, no similar problem, install seemed to work ok, but....
On reboot, once desktop up, first mouseclick cleared display and reset. No
noticeable changes to any display settings.

I have not yet upgraded to current ATI Catalyst 4.10, driver is still
6.14.10.6476 from 8/04. Install notes emphasize first removing current
driver, then installation of new driver (std practice).

Wanting to know what the XP SP2 Radeon 9800 update actually does/did, logged
onto MS update, found the file, but no info avail other than title header.

I have not had any problems with my desktop AMD 2600/9800 Pro with SP2, nor
found any threads in forums. What's the update fix?

Generally it is not a good idea to get driver updates from Windows Update.
Instead get them directly from the hardware manufacturer.

Microsoft can not distribute a driver unless the manufacturer submits the
driver and the driver meets the requirements.
A better question might be "How long until the hardware manufacturer submits
the drivers, if ever?"

ATI typically releases an update/fix once a month
