This past Thursday my wife opened a smartest.wmv file attachment from a
friend. When executing the file it opened the Real media player. Nothing
executed in the player? From this point on when an email arrives it converts
itself to the same email with apparent worm/virus.

subject line reads: FW: "the Old College Test" and the attachment read
smartest.wmv. When right clicking on the file it showed
thesmartestkidinclas...

Any suggests to remove this worm will be appreciated?????

In addition: When closing Outlook 98, it needs to be done from the task bar.
In the task bar window, it says Ccapp (Not responding). The only way to
exit Outlook 98 is from the task bar. I thought this might help diagnos the
problem. Thanks the perplexed Outlook 98 user. End

Hi - sounds like you might want to post this in
microsoft.public.security.virus for the most help. This group is for Windows
Update issues.

That said, you need to run a full virus scan on your computer. You should
have good, updated antivirus software installed at all times - this is
mandatory, as is a firewall - www.grisoft.com has a free antivirus program.
In the meantime, try http://housecall.antivirus.com for an online scan from
Trend Micro.
