Sorry, Laurahoney, but you really must take the time to learn how to disable
Norton. Please consult the Norton documentation. You usually start by
right-clicking on the Norton icon in the Notification Area (or taskbar).
You need both to disable Norton anti-virus and to disable Norton Internet
Security (firewall). If you have the choice of how long to disable them
for, choose "until the next restart".
Having disabled Norton, please try the following steps to get past the
problem you have installing the Genuine Advantage software:
1. Try downloading the WGA installer manually, save it to hard disk, then
run it. Start the download by clicking on this link:
<http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=78651>
2. Whether step 1 ran successfully or not, send your browser to
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ and click "Start Diagnostics".
Follow the instructions. When it has finished, copy the "Microsoft Genuine
Advantage Diagnostic Results" into a follow-up in this thread.
