If your XP computer is still receiving the email, then it may not be
available for the Vista computer to download. If you wish to receive the
same email on both computers, configure both email programs to leave the
email on the server after downloading.
Assuming it's a POP account...
Tools - Accounts - youraccount - Properties - Advanced
[x] Leave a copy of messages on server
[x] Remove from server after [xx] days
