I have a new desktop with window 7 and Norton 360. Everything went well with
Live Mail except for "Send". I've read all the postings without success.
Shut of Scan outgoing mail in Norton. The message I recieve is
The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'test'
Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10013

These server settings worked with outlook express.
thx.

Is your Yahoo account a premium plus account or a free account that supports pop3 ? (not all free accounts do)

For a Yahoo premium account, these are the pop3/smtp settings I use

Incoming: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgong: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing Server requires authentication = Yes

Ports
Incoming: 465 with SSL
Outgoing: 995 with SSL

You might wish to check with ATT to determine if alternative ports like Yahoo Premium is an option.
e.g.
smtp.att.yahoo.com and port 465 with SSL
pop.att.yahoo.com and port 995 with SSL

I think you should be using port 465 and SSL with the ATT SMTP servers.
* Change the top two settings on the Advanced tab of the account's
Properties sheet.
* On the "Servers tab, check the box labelled "My server requires
authentication".
* Your "E-mail username" must be your full, complete email address.

(Instructions courtesy of Norman Miller in this group four weeks ago, so
you can't have read 'all the postings'

Based on the server name, the OP has a partnered account (AT&T/Yahoo)
rather than a premium Mail Plus account.

I saw that, but there is no point in possibly confusing an unsophisticated
user with two choices.

I, apparently, have more faith that the op will read the entire post especially one sophisticated enough to have previously setup
the account in OE and post the full error message. <g>

mkchill

The only way to shut off email scanning with Norton is to uninstall Norton using
their uninstall tool (see the link below) and then re-install it without the email
integration (scanning) option.
Try it and let us know.
