Problem with system restore

I want to run system restore which I've done before. Facility is switched on
and system should be generating automatically every 24hrs but doesn't seem to
be working. When I try and restore wizard says that there are no restore
dates. and calander only shows current month. I'm running Windows XP. Anyone
know of any way I can restore system to a specific date?
